An engineer is a person who offers technical solutions to the problems and needs of people and society, thinking and working with scientific methods. In the modern sense, an engineer is also defined as someone who transforms the theoretical knowledge produced by scientists into practical knowledge that technicians can apply.

Engineers serve humanity by using and directing the laws of nature. Engineers have a significant impact on the research, production, and development activities of industry, thus making a great contribution to the national economy. The improvement of living standards and the development of social life in society are possible through the production of knowledge and technology and their use in daily life. From transportation vehicles to energy sources, from communication to engineering structures, many of the things we use in our daily lives and that make our lives easier are produced under the responsibility of engineers.

In this context, our most important goal at our faculty, which has been continuing its educational activities since its establishment in 2001, is to develop the engineering abilities of our students and to train successful students in all areas where engineering services are provided. In line with this, our important goals include producing knowledge and technology in the light of universal scientific principles, offering solutions to engineering problems on a regional, national and international scale, training individuals ready for global competition, and excelling in areas that serve as a driving force for our city’s economy. In line with these goals, our faculty continues its educational and scientific research activities with nearly 100 academic staff. Within the scope of the 4-year education and training activities conducted in our faculty, we work with our entire academic staff to provide our students with the knowledge they will need in both their professional and social lives. During this 4-year education and training process, we also offer our students a total of 60 days of internship opportunities to learn about and gain experience in the business world. Thus, before entering the workforce, our students aim to see the environment in which they will work and to experience the sectors they wish to work in in the future. Furthermore, during their education and training, our students are also given the opportunity to study and intern abroad through the Erasmus and Farabi programs. In this way, our students are offered the opportunity to enhance the quality of their education through cultural exchange.

Since our establishment, we have contributed nearly 3500 engineers to our country. Currently, as of the 2017-2018 academic year, nearly 3000 prospective engineers are continuing their education in 9 departments within our Faculty. Looking at the distribution of students admitted to our faculty this year, we see that a total of 507 students from different regions of our country, primarily the Aegean and Central Anatolia, have chosen our faculty. Furthermore, based on the 2017-2018 academic year, 125 foreign students are also studying at our faculty.

In addition to educational activities, our faculty has 37 laboratories equipped with technological devices for use in research and development (R&D) studies, available for use by both our academic staff and students. Besides the fields of natural stone, geothermal energy, food, renewable energy, and health, which are of great importance to our city’s economy; Our faculty conducts numerous projects aimed at solving industry problems in areas such as the design of electrically powered automobiles, the measurement, mapping, and modeling of the earth’s surface, the exploration, production, and enrichment of mineral resources, the investigation of earthquake sources, the design and construction of earthquake-resistant housing and engineering structures suitable for today’s technology and needs, the transformation of raw materials into products through chemical processes, and the design and application of various materials.

Through our academic work and innovative education and training activities, we aim to continue progressing towards becoming a leading faculty, primarily in our region and subsequently in our country, and to provide our students with a high-quality educational environment in the coming years. As the Faculty of Engineering, we will continue our work with our entire academic staff in the coming years to train engineers with the skills our country needs and to produce knowledge and technology for various industrial branches. In this context, we will be happy to welcome you, our valued students, who wish to choose us, with all our academic staff and physical infrastructure.
